Talkin' Turkey on the Design Wall

Mondays are the days I "regroup" in my quilting plans.  There are so many projects that are in the waiting stages while I work on this one, shown below.  I've had Talkin' Turkey on my design wall for the last two weeks, and I want to sew it together into a quilt top before next Monday.  It will be nice to have it in one piece finally.

I am looking for a big bold plaid for the back of this quilt, so if you see one that is similar to the one Bonnie Hunter used on her quilt, please let me know.  Here is the back of her original Talkin' Turkey.  I love it!

I am not going to make the border of my quilt the same as the pattern, because I am ready for this quilt to be finished, and the border on the original quilt has a lot of strings and more flying geese.  I haven't decided what I will use for a border yet.

Here is the last bit of flying geese to put into the quilt before the borders:

I've been doing a little redwork while watching baseball this week in the evenings.  Here is the start of a new square with three little birds on it.

My Dear Jane group meets tomorrow, and I have not been working on my blocks, but I am hoping to get some new enthusiasm for my Dear Jane project at the meeting when I see all my friends there.  I am feeling guilty for not working on my Dear Jane project, but it will be next in line.

What's on your design wall?   As usual, I'm linking to Design Wall Mondays (Here)

Talkin' Turkey is a real beauty, and I can see why you are hoping to find a similar plaid for the backing... it's perfect!
I think getting together with fellow quilters to work on certain projects is a good way to get the mojo going... it seems to work for me that way. Have fun with Dear Jane!

Your Talking Turkey is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Does it really need much of a border? I don't think it does. I think it's a stand alone as it is or maybe just a narrow not pieced border.
Way to go Judy!

Love your Talkin' Turkey quilt! Your red gingham sashing makes the blocks really pop. And that fabric for the backing would be awesome! Looking forward to seeing it all together!

Really a spectacular quilt! I can't wait to see what you do with the borders and binding. And I love all-things-bird, so the redwork truly reaches my heart!

Your Turkey Tracks is looking quite stunning!
I also LOVE your redwork block. Those birds are so precious!

It's good to take a break from long term projects now & again.
Otherwise they become tedious work instead of joyful journeys.

I like seeing all those different red fabrics in your quilt. My red stash doesn't have as much variety as I used to have. Makes me want to shop when I see yours.

Love your Talkin' Turkey quilt! That's a tad larger than most of the quilts I've seen from you at Show & Tell. :-)

Talkin' Turkey is lovely! Personally I don't think this quilt needs a pieced border.
