I've just come home from a four day retreat in Shipshewana, Indiana, and my heart is full. The quilters at the retreat fill my heart each time we meet, and I can't wait until the next one comes around.
There were several wonderful quilts shown at the "Show and Tell" on Friday night, and also several other masterpieces in progress around the room. It was wonderful, and I am filled with ideas for new quilts.
I didn't buy any fabric while there, and only bought a pair of pillowcases that will go well with my yellow appliqued flower quilt. Here is a picture of the quilt with the new (vintage) pillowcases:
While at the retreat, I made a few little doll quilts to go with some of my big quilts. Here is a little one I made to go with my toile valentine quilt. I made the solid squares in a size that I could fussy cut the birds in the squares:
Here is a picture of the 2 quilt together: Someone asked me for directions for the large quilt, and I am going to write out the instructions for both quilts and make a little pattern leaflet, if anyone is interested. A friend said I should sell the pattern, and I am considering it.

The pillows are ideal for your yellow flower quilt and I love your doll quilt.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe doll quilts are wonderful! I've been following your work on the larger valentine quilt. Your work always amazes me.
ReplyDeleteIf you decide to make a pattern and instructions for the doll quilts, I'd be interested.
I'm glad you had such a good time at your retreat, we all need that from time to time.

The pillowcases are perfect for the quilt....nice find! They look as though they were made for each other.
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing so many pictures from the retreat. Looks like it would be a wonderful time. Wish I lived close enough to attend one year.
ReplyDeleteThe retreat was wonderful!! Great seeing you and your work in person!! lol I can not believe that you didn't purchase any fabrics this time. But if you are like me, I still have plenty to use here at home.
