Design Wall Monday - January 15, 2018

Happy Monday everyone!  I went back and posted pictures on last week's post, so if you want to see the small quilt I was working on, go (Here)  Remember that I wasn't able to post pictures while away from home.

This week, I'm working on the Jane Stickle quilt.  I have made two triangles, and I think I have about 24 triangles left to go, and then I can start assembly of the quilt.  It has been a project for so long, that in a way, I hate to finish it.  I know that doesn't make any sense, but that's how I feel.

Here is one of the triangles I completed this week, Left Side, 11th from the top:

I may redo the bottom appliqued partial circle, as it ends too far up the right side, but on the other hand, in the grand scheme of things, it's a small mistake.

The second one, Left Side, 5th from the top:

I am trying to match Jane's original fabrics as much as I can, but I never found any fabric close to the fabric Jane used on this one.

What are you working on this week?  Please remember to link back to this post within your post.

That means the link back should be to this exact post:

  2. Dear Jane quilts are a lot of work, love seeing the process having made two myself

  3. That makes total sense to me! I often slow down at the end of making a special quilt because I don't really want it to be over!

  4. Hi, Judy. I know EXACTLY what you mean about that hint of sadness that comes mixed in with the joy of completing a quilt that you've been working on for a long time. It is like a child's high school graduation, going off to college. Yay, we're done -- but oh, no; that means a childhood is over, a nest is empty, etc. But I'll start a new quilt project much more readily than I'd have another baby at my age! :-) As for imperfections in your beautiful triange: That's one of the things that appeals to me in antique quilts. When we achieve absolute perfection with our modern technology, it can almost result in a quilt that appears mass-produced rather than handmade. I love your block, but I can relate to perfectionism, too.

  5. I cannot see anything wrong with your appliqued half circle. And I even have my glasses on. I bet there aren't any Quilt Police anywhere nearby so I think you're good to go. I'm amazed at the work you have to put in for just one block. I'm just about to the end of my Farmer's Wife quilt, paper-pieced, 105 six-inch blocks. Don't give up and keep chuggin' on!

  6. Hi Judy, I am so happy to look at these wonderful triangle pieces of yours. I have followed several people on their Jane journey and never tire of the sights. I like that you tried to match up with original Jane's fabrics, too.

  7. Your replication of the colors and fabrics in your Dear Jane seems very good! How many happy hours you must have had choosing them all.

  8. Obviously been a while as I didn't realize Judy wasn't hosting the Design Wall Monday ......I'm glad you've picked up the torch. So, I'm sharing what is on mine today. Working on a multi-part quilt too, so I understand the step by step progress and enjoy sharing the journey.
