Design Wall Monday - October 28, 2019

Good Morning Quilters!  Yesterday was the daylight savings time change for most of the world, but in the United States it will be next Sunday, November 3rd.  I am looking forward to gaining an hour.  I'm sure I'll get a lot more quilting done, right?  ha ha

I want to show you a cute baby blanket that I just finished.  A friend, Dee, gave me the cats, surfboards and fish novelty fabric many years ago, and it is finally in a baby quilt.  She will be so pleased!  The quilt is made of 3.5 inch squares, 9 across and 10 down.  The back of the quilt and the binding are the same plaid as the front squares.

Isn't the fabric cute?  Who thinks up these things?

Design Wall Monday - October 21, 2019

Hello quilters!  We got back home safely last Monday morning, and were 'none the worse for wear', after our overnight stay in Chicago.  What have I accomplished this week?  Well, I've done a little on several projects, and mostly worked on applying binding to a large quilt.  Here is a picture of Penny Lane, trying to sit on my lap and chew on a bone while I'm trying to sew down binding.   As you can see, it's not working out very well.  ha ha

I now have the binding on three sides, and about half of the final side, so I should finish it up today.  Then I have to add a hanging sleeve and a label to this one.

What are you working on today?  I hope to be able to sit down and look at all of your blogs this week.  It seems like life is just flying by - with the trip to Texas, and an eye doctor visit to squire my sister to - and the usual household chores - I've watched the week fly by quickly.

Design Wall Monday - October 14, 2019

Usually I post Sunday night before going to bed, to have it publish in early morning Monday.  This week, we flew to Texas to visit our daughter, and were supposed to be back home about midnight Sunday.....so I could post when I got home.  But you know how flying is these days, our flight from Chicago to Grand Rapids Sunday night was delayed, then again delayed....and now it is supposed to leave Chicago Monday morning at 6:45 AM.   So I am in a motel, with no suitcase, no pj's, writing this just after midnight Sunday night.

So I have no pictures of what is on my design wall at home.  You will just have to wait until next week.  I can show you some pictures this week from the internet of a quilt I'd like to make for Valentine's Day.  Gayle Brindley posted these pictures on Instagram, isn't her pillow beautiful?

Design Wall Monday - October 7, 2019

Good morning quilters!  This week I have been working more on "Doll Delicious", the doll quilt to go with my large quilt named "Red Delicious".  Thanks to Annie of "Annie's Quilt Orts" blog for naming the doll quilt.  I like the name.  I have 68 apple core pieces together and will finish it at 100 pieces soon.  Since it is hand sewn, it is a good "take with" project.  

Here is a closeup picture to show you a fabric with a little mouse face:

Lastly, here's a picture of Penny Lane with her blanket.  She loves her blanket, and carries it around the house.   It is fuzzy on one side and Minky fabric on the other.  I kept it from her while she was teething, and so far she hasn't chewed very many holes in it since I've given it back.  She reminds me of a toddler with a blankie.
