Good Morning Quilters! Lots happening this week with quilting and otherwise.
Remember, last week I was preparing to make an appliquéd border for the Birds of A Feather quilt top. I changed my mind, and made a pieced border, which is so much easier for me. I am a piecer at heart. So this is what the quilt looks like today, with the left and right side borders attached, and the top and bottom borders ready to be attached soon. After the hsts, there will be another plain 5 inch border on all sides. I am happy with my decision and am sure it will go to a longarm quilter soon. Serendipity!
Hubby brought me these tulips Saturday…..aren’t they lovely?
I love to watch the four big tennis tournaments as I love the game so much. I used to play tennis in college years ago. One of my favorite players is Rafael Nadal from Spain. I was watching the Australian Open very very early Sunday morning and saw an incredible match. Over five hours of two great players battling on the court! Rafael won after being down two sets, which is a very tough thing to do,

Your quilt looks wonderful, so lovely. Better finished than not finished! I hope your nephews can make the decisions that need to be made, those decisions aren't easy. Happy stitching!

The triangles are a nice touch, Judy, and will get you to "finished" a lot faster. Hope your sister is doing better.
ReplyDeleteThose hospital stays can be as exhausting for family and it is for the patient I think. Hope your sister improves, and that her sons find a good option for her next place. Your pieced border looks lovely on that quilt - maybe even a better choice because of all the other applique. Great job!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like what you've done for a border. It makes me want to reevaluate an old appliqué quilt I've not worked on for years. I want to make it bigger -- pieced borders make so much more sense to me then trying to do an appliqué. It might move up on the UFO list.... one of these days!

ReplyDeleteWasn't the Australian Open Finals great??!! I was on team Nadal, too. Being an Aussie, I loved that our Ash Barty was victorious, too. As for your border with all the itty bitty pieced triangles...wow! You must love piecing. =) The border looks fabulous. That is sad to read of your sister's illness. How wonderful you are close by and can visit her a lot. That would be such a comfort to both your sister and you.

ReplyDeleteYou are creating another beauty there, no applique needed! So sorry your sis isn't well, but glad that she is close so you can visit! I don't have a blog, and have had a couple years of not creating but now am back at it and hoping to use up a bin of fabric collected over 20 years ago. I've cut 4 different widths of strips from them and now have a snuggle sized top done, so #1 is ready for to be tied and keep hubby warm. #2 will be slightly different, and see what happens.
