Good Morning Quilters!
I’m still on the subject of sampler quilts. But I am making progress! The Splendid Sampler blocks setting design issues have been resolved, and I am relatively happy with the plan to finish this UFO. Here is the progress I have made:
1) I made a choice of setting design, as per favorable opinions you provided. Thank you very much! I am going with this plan:
Since last Monday, I auditioned light and dark solid fabrics for the plain parts:
2) pink and light green:
Result: A) Too pinky and baby looking for me. I realized I’m not very fond of pink.
B) I eliminated the pink, and used just the light green alternating with white:
Better, but still not enough contrast for me,
C): Using a dark green gives me the contrast I want. It still is a sampler look (too busy for me) but I do like it and it is a go to finish up this UFO.
I am glad this project is moving along. And I think there are only a few more sampler UFOs in my stash. 😊 For sure, I know I am not starting any new ones in the future. What are you working on this week?
Thanks for faithfully joining in our Design Wall Monday Linky Party below. You are the best!
I like your color choice for the sampler
ReplyDeleteI also veto the pink fabric for the sampler quilt. My choice would have been the first picture you showed, the browns. I really like them the best! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteThe contrast with that darker green was definitely the best option. It will be lovely. I adore samplers.
ReplyDeleteYou are making great progress. I like the dark green but did you think of using it with the light green instead of the white? Don't know whether it would work but it might. Hope you continue your progress.
ReplyDeleteLove that switch over to dark green on this one--really sets off the whole piece--nice choice!! Hugs, Julierose (p.s. I am in that "80" club, too--allowances go without saying ;} )
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, I really like your final design choice. Working with so many sampler blocks can't be easy. I only have one sampler quilt in my UFO stash but it may be a while before I finish it since I want to make a medallion for the centre. Have fun playing and finishing this UFO!
ReplyDeleteI like the one with the lighter green much better, but the darker green does show the contrast well.
ReplyDeleteI like your final setting, that dark green really works well. Sampler quilts are hard. I still have a couple I need to decide on settings for.
