Good Morning Quilters!
Last week I talked about the quilt on my design wall - and how my mistake in cutting out blocks was a problem. It is still there and, because of the problem, it is in time out, while I work on other projects. So I prepped the center vine on two long borders for this quilt, called “Cousins Walk”:
I have the top and bottom border almost finished, and am now starting on the two longer left and right side borders. On the original quilt, each of the four borders has a separate pattern, but I have made the two borders for top and bottom duplicates of each other, and am making the remaining two longer borders the same as each other. Any way you make the borders, there are a lot of appliquéd flowers and leaves to make.
Here is a picture of the top and bottom borders which are nearly finished:
The task is a long one, but taking it one little flower at a time, it will get completed. Here is the first flower started yesterday on each of the side borders:
Please link up to our Design Wall Monday Linky Party below and tell us all about your week. I really appreciate all of our regular participants and their posts. You all do so many beautiful projects. Thank you.
So lovely. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Sometimes quilts do need a time out. Hopefully you'll figure out how to deal with the issues the next time you pull it out. You picked a beautifful quilt to work on. Enjoy the season, it is busy, so it's hard to stop and take time to enjoy the holiday.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with all your applique. It is really looking good. Maybe while your are hand stitching your brain will come up with a plan for the time out quilt!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt will be stunning. And a treasure for sure. I have a UFO in time out too, probably more than one if I'm being honest. Sometimes they just need some time for a firm plan to develop.
ReplyDeleteWow, your quilt is amazing! So much applique. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo looks as though it was a picture in one of the quilt history books I've been reading. It's a beautiful quilt, Judy.
ReplyDeleteWow, what beautiful appliqué!!! Hand appliqué is rather a rarity nowadays...
ReplyDeleteHand applique is one technique that I have not tried. Maybe sometime in the future. As for putting a quilt in time out... sometimes it is required! Thanks for the chance to share in your party.
ReplyDeleteYou are making good progress with the cousins quilt. You'll have it finished and quilted by next retreat! Happy stitching and Happy Christmas!
