Good Morning Quilters!
My design wall looks similar to last week, but I am making progress. here is a picture:
The left side is all sewn together, and I am working on the rest of it. It is going well, but I didn’t have time to work on it much this week. Slow and steady will get the job done.
The Cousin’s Walk quilt is getting nearer the end….slow and steady applies to this one too. I tried to appliqué one flower each day, and there are three more flowers to go before I get to the end of each border, where there are mitered corners. I plan to sew the borders to the quilt, miter the corners, and then finish the appliqué at the ends of each vine. I am so happy to be near the end of this quilt, and am looking forward to seeing the borders together with the middle part of the quilt. Here is a picture of my progress: (The white strip is freezer paper in a pattern of where the final vine will be)
Valentine’s Day is this week. Do you have any quilts that you display for Valentines Day? I have this one, that I always have out in February:
Maybe I will see some Valentine’s Day quilts this week from some of you. It is always a pleasure to read your blog posts and look at your pictures. Click on the link below and join our Design Wall Monday Linky Party. I appreciate you so much. Thank you for participating,
Slow and steady indeed. Cannot rush the blooming of flowers :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts take time to make, slow and steady like you said. I love your Valentine quilt, I remember when you were piecing it at retreat, so cute! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeletelove that valentine quilt....the big one is looking very good and nearly a top...woo hoo!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful valentine quilt. I love the scrappy shading in the background squares, are they all 1 inch finished squares?
ReplyDeleteYour diamond quilt looks like a labor of love!
ReplyDeleteGreat forward progress even if you didn't have much time. I think any forward progress is great! Love that Valentine quilt. I have several I display each year or every other year as I have more quilts than I have hanging spaces. Not a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteYour diamonds and your Cousin's Walk quilts both look amazing, Judy. I am interested in how you are planning to attach your borders, miter the corners and THEN complete the corner appliqué. I have always wondered nervously about (and never attempted!) appliqué borders knowing that the appliqué stitches can draw up the background fabric, but not sure how to allow for that and still end up with properly fitted borders that don't ripple or wave, and appliqué that is spaced evenly and positioned well in the corners. I hope you will share more of your process with that, as I am your eager student!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, your projects look wonderful. As you said, slow and steady usually goes best but it'll be so nice to see your appliqué project coming together.
ReplyDeleteI should make for things for us.....it would be nice to have wall hangings, quilts, table runners etc to put out for the holidays
