Design Wall Monday - October 19, 2026

Good Morning Quilters!

This week I worked on making more blocks for the Old Mill Pond quilt pattern.   There are 18 blocks in this quilt and several outer borders.  I put the blocks I have (15) on the design wall, as I was anxious to see what they looked like all together.  I like it so far.  I am using available indigos and greens from my stash, and using neutrals from my stash too.  It feels good to use some fabrics from my own “shop” and whittle down my extensive fabric collection.

Here is a progress picture.  Three more blocks to make and then I can start assembly of the center of this quilt.

Here is the pattern for reference:  It is by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts.

The Jane Austen quilt is still on half of the design wall, and I am also working on the sashing on that one.  This coming week looks like it is not so busy, so I hope to make progress on both of these quilts.

There are only nine more rows to sew the sashing between each block, and each row gets shorter as I move toward the outer edge.  So this will get finished soon, once I get started on it.

Are you working on two quilts at once…..or more?  When I talk to other quilters, very few of them work on only one project at a time.  Join our Design Wall Monday Linky Party and show us what you are working on this week.  I so enjoy reading your blogs and looking at your pictures.  Thank you for participating.  You bring me joy.

  1. Yep! I work on several quilts at the same time. Right now I have a huge number of 2.5"x5" bricks sewn with a 2.5" square that have been sewn as leader/ender. I need to decide what to do with them. I've made one blue quilt with them. But the new ones are all sorts of colors. Then there are the actual projects. I got several to top stage at retreat but most of them were cut specifically for retreat. Sigh. I like using my stash too. Most of the ongoing projects are 100% stash -- until I need a backing. Hope you make great progress this week.

I am always searching for new ideas and your feedback helps me learn how to do things better. Thanks for stopping by! Note that I am not on the computer daily, so responses to your comments happen when they happen.....I'm 80, and I hope allowances can be made. 😊
