Good Morning Quilters! This week I am going to a quilt retreat and yesterday I made a long list of things to take with me……..everything but the kitchen sink apparently. My car will hold it all, so it’s all good.
The last block for the May Day Basket Quilt is finished. I am so happy!
While on retreat, I hope to buy fabric for the alternating blocks for this project. I have decided on a solid green, and am taking two of my 30s era quilts with me to try to find a similar green to that used in those quilts.
Here is the final (#30) quilt block of the May Day Flower Basket quilt.
The two 30s quilts that I own are shown below:
I'm also pulling items to pack for retreat. I just don't see how the carpool from Minnesota does it, my car is full just by myself! I'm sure Yoder's will have the perfect green for your quilt. See you Wednesday!!!
ReplyDeletecongrats on the basket - have fun at the retreat
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your retreat, Judy!!! I'm looking forward to seeing the green you buy for your May Day basket quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful vintage look for your baskets, Judy. Have fun on the retreat!
ReplyDeleteHave LOTS of fun at the retreat. Can't wait to see what you make while on retreat. You flower basket blocks all turned out so pretty, but this one may be the prettiest.
ReplyDeleteThose old quilts are such treasures! All of the variety in the fabric pieces just prove the maker probably saved every scrap from dresses and shirts she made for family.
Congrats on finishing the last block! Will there be another embroidered quilt project in your future?
ReplyDeleteOh Judy, congrats on getting your last block done. And a retreat. What fun. I hope you find the perfect green for your blocks. (you didn't ask my opinion but that green might overpower the blocks...) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, I love your blog and seeing all your projects!

I've so enjoyed your stitching journey with these beautiful baskets, Judy. And how wonderful to have those special quilts.
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, I hope that you have a great time at the retreat. Good luck finding that perfect green. I'm sure that it will be great to be putting it all together after so much work embroidering your baskets. It's going to be a beauty! Take care.
