Good Morning Quilters!
My design wall is empty today, but I am nearing the end of an appliqué quilt. The last time I posted about this quilt was in early February, and at that time, I was nearly finished with the borders. See post (Here). For some unexplained reason, I quit working on it, and put it aside. I don’t know why, but sometimes when I am very near the end of a quilt, I slow down.
Anyway, I am working on it again, and I am showing you here. The larger tulip flower was only on one of the borders in the original pattern, but I liked it so much that there is going to be a larger tulip on all four of my quilt borders.
The borders are sewed on to the quilt center, and I have two corners to add a few flowers to.
This week I am getting ready to go on a retreat. When I go on a retreat, i usually make a small gift for each person sitting at the table with me. I will show you my project next week, as I want to wait until they are gifted before I post about them. I am curious about quilty gifts you have received/gifted. What was a gift you made for others, or received that you really liked?
Thank you all for your participation in our Design Wall Monday Linky Party. There is so much talent in your posts, and I look forward each week to seeing and reading about your projects. Thank you!

You are kind to make a gift for all your seat mates, some years I do but usually I don't. I'm looking forward to the display of all the bird quilts, happy stitching!
Enjoy your retreat. Sometimes you just get tired of a project and want a change. Though I will admit once I get to adding the borders, I usually make myself push through to get it to finished quilt top stage.
I'm with you! I'm not sure why I slow down once I'm close to done. I have a quilt I was so anxious to have pieced so I could hand quilt. I just need to get the batting, baste and get started!! But it's sat waiting for over a month.
I've come to a stop on one project because I need borders and nothing has interested me much. The best gift received at a retreat was a bottle of "pills" (m&ms) with an accurate looking prescription mentioning things like quilting, location etc. Another thing I got (more in a drawing or something) is a mug with a clothe insert with pockets on the outside. And, something I'm thinking of doing is making fabric covers for fingernail files. I gave them to all the girls in my immediate family at Christmas. I like the idea that most of the file will be covered when I stash it in my purse.
Hi Judy, I hope that you have an awesome time on your retreat! I sometimes stop a project near the end but I do that more often with books - possibly because I'm sorry that it will be finished, or afraid that it will not have a great ending! I guess that could apply to quilting too!
Hope you have a wonderful time at the retreat. And yes, I've definitely set projects aside in spite of being nearly done. I think I get bored with some projects.
