Good morning Quilters!
Happy Easter!
This week has been busy with family and church activities, so quilting has taken a back seat for me.
All I have to show you is a little progress on my redwork Christmas alphabet quilt project. Here are two completed blocks and a third in progress:
C for Candy Canes
H for Holly Berries
And the one I’m working on now….B for Bells
As I said before, it was a slow week, quilting wise. As for humor, there was an abundance of that with me, as usual. Here is one example.
Every Easter I make a lamb cake, using a mold in the shape of a lamb. I decorate it with white frosting, coconut, jelly beans for eyes, and usually a necklace. A grandson helped me dye coconut green for grass, and we spread jelly bean eggs in the grass around the lamb. This year’s lamb was listing a little bit to the left, but seemed to be stable when we finished. Our son took a picture:
Well, about a half hour before dinner, my son laughed and told me that the lamb’s head had fallen off! The Grandkids thought it was very funny, and the Great Grandson was only 2 and took no notice of the tradegy. Here is the lamb before we served him as dessert:
Happy Easter cake was enjoyed by all. What is happening in your life this week? Please join our Design Wall Monday Linky Party below and tell us what you are doing. I am so happy you all participate and we get a peek into your lives. Thank you.

I love your embroidered Christmas blocks and the lamb cake is a delight. I really like a lamb cake as a tradition for Easter. i think a new tradition may be starting here as the family love the idea.
Such a cute lamb - a joy to for the eyes and the mouth :-D
Very fun alphabet blocks. Looks like you are making steady progress. So sorry for the misadventures in lamb cake making, but it's a fun story. 'm betting it will be one of those holiday happenings that will stick in everyone's memories for a long while.
It was so nice you were able to get together with your family for Easter. Family is more special as we age. Happy stitching!
my first and only lamb cake was a similar disaster...fortunately the shape was of no consequence....it disappeared anyway
How funny!! The poor lamb,
Happy Easter! The lamb cake tragedy will bring laughs back in future years too. Memories in the making! Very cute redwork project you are working on!
My lamb cake pan is a side view. I realized if I don’t bake him with his face down, he doesn’t have a nose. My family likes to redecorate him with extra eyes and eyelashes. After I get the batter in the pan, I put a piece of a chopstick in the neck and toothpicks in the ears so he stays intact, but he still fell over.
Love your Christmas embroidery blocks. What precious memories of the lamb cake! They will be in your family for a long time. :-)
Oh that lamb cake!!! Your family will have fond memories of the “lamb tragedy” for years. And of course your red work is just beautiful. Happy Easter to you and your family!
Those Christmas blocks are beautiful! And you're doing such a nice job on them.
Your redwork by hand? I took a redwork workshop, which was by machine. A cute cake despite the tragedy before serving.
Oh those embroideries are cute. It's nice to think of cool thoughts as spring turns to summer! Sounds like everyone enjoyed that cake -- in one piece or not!
