I cleaned out the quilt room closet this past week, and found these squares all cut, ready for ?........I don't remember. So I sewed them together, and am looking for inspiration on what to add next. I have lots of thirties fat quarters. The squares are 1.5 inches. I may just cut some more and make it a little bigger. I sewed without looking at any color - just picked up the next one and added it to the strip. It's an exercise in non-control for someone who likes to over-manage.
When I want inspiration, I usually look at antique quilts online or in some of my books. My "go-to" books for inspiration are the following:
Great Little Quilts, by Eleanor Levie
Childhood Treasures: Doll Quilts by and for Children, by Merikay Waldvogel
Small Endearments: 19th Century Quilts for Children and Dolls, by Sandi Fox
Crib Quilts and Other Small Wonders, by Thos. K. Woodward and Blanche Greenstein
Little Quilts All Through the House by Alice Berg, Mary
Ellen Von Holt and Sylvia Johnson
Patriotic Little Quilts by Alice Berg, Mary Ellen Von Holt
and Sylvia Johnson
Celebrate with Little Quilts by Alice Berg, Mary Ellen
VonHolt and Sylvia Johnson
American Doll Quilts by Kathleen Tracy
Big Book of Small Quilts by Mary Hickey
I'm heading to bed with two of these books, hoping to get inspired.

Great start on a little quilt. I like how you just went with it - whatever happened, happened.
All of books you mentioned are favorites of mine too for ideas!

It's precious! Isn't it funny how beautifully balanced things can be even when you don't lay out the squares for color? Love it!
so cute and I love your header with the buttons too!
I love your little postage stamp quilt. I have been saving 1.5 inch pieces for years, but haven't done anything with them. This makes me want to start sewing them.

sometimes turning a big piece into little pieces and back into big pieces is enough. Way cute!
