Design Wall Monday - June 6, 2022

 Good Morning Quilters!

Two weeks ago Cindy posted on her blog several pictures, and one was of a cute little American Flag quilt.  See her post (Here)  I asked if it was her pattern, and she replied that it was a free pattern from the Temecula Quilt Co.  Here is my version of the little quilt:  (I am in the process of sewing down the binding, so it is not quite finished.

The free Temecula Quilt Co. pattern is called "Olde Glory", and they posted about it (Here)  I found it a lot of fun, but realized that I really had to watch my 1/4 inch seam when I was making the red and white stripes for the flag.  I had some wonky widths, so I then marked the width of the 3/4" strip......with a pencil line on each side of 1/4 inch.  See example below:

I practiced before I made the flag, and even with the practice, the seams are a little wavy....but the flag waves, right?

What are you working on this week?  I am still sewing together the quilt top of May Day Baskets, and have tentatively decided on a border design.  I now need to do the math for the border, but I enjoy figuring that part out.

I hope you join the Design Wall Monday Linky Party below, and show us some pictures of your fun.  Thank you to all of you who mention the Design Wall Mondays Linky Party in your blog, and thank you to all of you who provide a link back to this blog post.  You are a blessing to me.

What a sweet little flag quilt! Yes, 1/4" wide finished strips sound tricky! So good!!!

Oh Judy, the seams are wavy because the flag is blowing in the breeze, just like it should :-) Have a great week!

I love your Olde Glory! I found those red and white stripes a challenge, too.
I love the striped binding :) And, I see you oriented your flag the correct way. I didn't realize the flag should be placed that way until after mine was in the quilting stage.

Thank you so much for sharing the mini quilt pattern. I'm always looking for something to use as a yard flag.
Also thank you for giving us a chance to share in your linky.
Temecula quilts are beautiful, but because of the size and many pieces can be very challenging. I do try to visit their site occasionally, but hadn't caught this piece of work. Really enjoy their photography too.

Hi Judy, with the half-square triangles surrounding the flag, it really looks like an "Olde Glory". It looks great! Have a wonderful week.
