Good Morning Quilters!
Another baby quilt is this week’s project. I have several baby quilts that are finished except for the final binding. I chose this one to finish for a special baby - my first great grandson! My Granddaughter Alexis and her husband Blake are expecting a baby boy in November. The baby shower will be next Sunday afternoon.
Here is a picture of the front side, with the binding yet to be hand sewn to the back:
I love the old time pictures of little children on the featured fabric. I used some fabrics that have been in my stash for quite a while, and made a pattern to fit the size of the children pictures. The finished baby quilt will measure 30” by 40”.
I ran out of the fabric I was going to bind it with, and found another fabric in my stash that was similar and used both. I don’t think the baby will mind that there are two different fabrics (both red with white polka dots) used in the binding! He will like the bright colors of this quilt. Here is a closeup of the binding.
The binding attachment is always a gamble that a binding seam might occur exactly on a corner, and there is a seam very near the corner……..but not right on it. See?
While taking a picture of the seam-corner situation to show you, I noticed something else. Look at how well the polka-dots matched up on the join! I couldn’t have done that any better if I had been trying. In quilting, sometimes things just work out well, don’t they? I’m sure my brilliant great grandson will notice my fine workmanship. hehehe
The quilting my long-armer (Tammy Oberlin) designed is so cute - it is hobby horses, cowboy boots, stars, and cowboy hats. She is very talented.
It’s your turn now. Please join in the Design Wall Mondays Linky Party below and show us your project (or projects) for this week. Thank you to all who link back to this blog post and mention Design Wall Mondays in your post. I appreciate you.

I am sure you were a great grandma to all your grandkids but now you are a GreatGrandma!!! It is official. Even the polka dots came together to celebrate :-D Congratulations.
Congratulations on your first great grandchild! The quilt is very cute, happy stitching!
Congrats on the upcoming Great Grand!! I am sure he will love looking at the fun pictures on the quilt.
Congratulations, happy times and beautiful quilt.
I don't like the seam of a binding to come at the corners or near so I lay the quilt top out before hand and loosely pin the binding on with binding clips - it doesn't have to be perfect just enough pins to ensure you know you don't have the seam in the corner or right before or after.
The quilt is really cute
congrats and that quilt is sure cute
That baby quilt is adorable! Love the prints. I’m certain your grand baby will love it!
What a cute quilt for your first great grandson. I particularly like the inner border. Makes me want to find something like that and use it in a quilt. Clever to make the quilt fit the pictures. And WOW that binding match is amazing. I agree we couldn't do that if we tried!
That is an adorable baby quilt, and he will love it. Congratulations on that upcoming great-grandson. Since my oldest grandchild is only 11 and I'm 68, I'm going to have to be patient about seeing the next generation. LOL
I love your baby quilt. Love the fabric and colors, congrats
Hi Judy, that's going to be a great little baby quilt. Enjoy the baby shower - at least the quilt will be all done by then!
A great-grandma, how wonderful! My kids married later so who knows if we will make it to great grandparent statues.
The baby quilt is so sweet and charming.
Those little children are such fun! I like your choice of blue for alternate blocks and also the striped inner border. This is a fun quilt that I'm sure both mom and baby will enjoy.
P.S. Thank you for hosting the link-up.
