Design Wall Monday November 6, 2023

Good Morning Quilters!

I am leaving for a week long quilt retreat soon, and am packing up projects and supplies today.  There is not much progress here at home, as this week has been a thinking and packing time.  However, I do have an interesting picture of fabrics to show you.

Close friends are in Togo, Africa, right now, and sent this picture from a visit to a market.   I think the local fabric is cotton, made with wax relief, but I’m not sure.  It is very colorful, and bright, so happy looking.

My stash is mostly civil war repros, and I have promised myself that I won’t buy any more fabric for the next 20 years.   But if I had been with my friends in Togo, I would have been tempted.

I have three projects to take to the retreat, and am thinking of adding another one before I leave.  I would hate to run out of projects while there!  haha. I always bring too much.

What are you working on this week?  Please join in the Design Wall Monday Linky Party below and tell us all about it.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

Those fabrics look so nice. I'm sure I would have purchased a lot of fabric! Happy packing! I have 3 projects packed for retreat also, I'm thinking of adding 2 more, you know, just in case!!

Those are indeed wax resist prints. Aren't they wonderful? One of my favorite fabric genres. Have fun at the retreat!

I would have purchased some too - fabric taste change over the years you should allow yourself to branch out in another direction if you want and not make yourself continue with the civil war repro's if they no longer interest you

If you are driving to retreat throw in that extra project. You might get bored with one or, hopefully, finish all the projects! Have fun.

All of those gorgeous African fabrics - what eye candy!! I keep telling myself I'll never need to buy fabric again, but then I do anyway. LOL There could be worse things to spend my money on I keep telling myself.

Such gorgeous fabrics Judy! I’d be tempted if I was there as well. Enjoy your retreat! 😁

Such vibrant colors in those fabrics. Very tempting. Enjoy your retreat. I always take too much, but then again, I'm not sure what I'm going to want to work on.

It's nice to have those thinking and reflecting times thrown in with the more productive phases of creating sometimes. Packing can sometimes be a time of forward thinking as in what we'll do next...or it can be a reflective time as in what we've done already...and both are part of the whole picture and can be inspiring.

Speaking of inspiring the fabrics are definitely inspiring. Love the picture of the fabrics.

I hope you enjoy the retreat. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Hi Judy,

Thanks for hostessing the linkup. I hope you have a great time at the retreat. I always pack heavy when it comes to taking projects as I take projects in various stages so that I can vary what I work on according to the spaces available or the mood I'm in.
