Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeesy |
This quilt before borders, is 75"x 75" and there are 25 blocks, each 15" finished size. Five blocks across, starting with a row of A,B,A,B,A. My best friend Dee and I decided this was the final, final version!
Below are layouts showing the pieces of Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street mystery quilt that are used in each block.
Block "A" |
and a total of 12 of Block B:

After looking at your blocks with the candy print, I thought they brightened up your quilt! I would have left them in.....
Oh,Oh...I'm sorry. The candy print looked "pink" from a little distance, and I had always had it in my mind that this would be a red and green quilt. But while I was playing wtih the candy print fabric, I thought of a great idea for candy quilt and I bet you will like that one. I do love the peppermint candy fabric.

A-dorable! I am so glad you chose that layout of the two. The 4 patches make that sort of extra crisscrossing effect which is awesome. Love.
Final layout is stupendous!
Great color/fabric selection, I think your is the best I have seen.
I love, love, love this version. Beautiful job & excellent colour choices. Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us.

Looks lovely, I like the HST with the light green in block B. Are yo planning to border it? I too can't wait for the linkup as I have completed my top. Phew
Love it! I am still plodding along ;)
Border it - I'm not sure - I'll think about that while I'm putting the blocks together. I am thinking "not" right now, but as you can see, I change my mind a lot. Judy
I really love your version!!!
This quilt looks great. I'm very behind but I will get this finished eventually. Your colors are terrific.
I like both versions, but the one you chose is strong visually. Beautiful holiday quilt!
Looking good, I just love all the ones with different color choices.
Great color choices! Thanks for sharing.
Love your colors. Love your layout. Love the whole thing.
great job!
I like your version best of all that I have seen so far. I want to make a red and green quilt also.
Just stunning
I REALLY! love your quilt! Stunning!
I like both versions. I don't think there is a wrong choice!!
I love the red and green, one of my favorite color combinations!
I love your Christmas version of Easy Street. Do you have a name for it? One of my favorite Christmas movies is Miracle on 34th Street (I like the old version), so I immediately thought of 34th Street when I saw your festive quilt! : )
So far, this is my favorite color version!!! I also liked your other version. Great Job.
Wow! I usually don't care for Bonnie's mystery quilts (too busy for me) but I _love_ this version! Just gorgeous, and I think you're absolutely right about the standard setting vs on point.
Ahhh, the perfect name for this quilt! I love the movie too! And the old version with Natalie Wood is best! I am going to change the name of this quilt. It's now "34th Street"! Thanks!!
Gorgeous, simply gorgeous! Love this ESPECIALLY! --those are my colors, and it's a grand design!
Judy I LOVE this version of the quilt! It is so pretty, and the changes you've made are all terrific. I like this much better than the original. Nice job!
Your Easy Street is wonderful and looks fabulous with your changes.
Wonderful.
Liebe Grüße Grit from Germany
The quilt is looking very sophisicated. We all look forward to 'a candy quilt' in the future!
Your Easy Street quilt looks beautiful.
Thank you so much for your posts about your layout. Like you, I prefer a layout that looks on point. I wasn't thrilled with the horizontal/vertical finish on Bonnie's. I am most definitely going to steal your layout -- with your permission of course!!!
Sure! Steal away! I love it when we help each other out. That's what quilters do. Judy
I love your version..
I liked the candy cane fabric, but this version is also beautiful! I like your idea of a straight setting. I skipped making the setting triangles since I wanted to see how the blocks look together. After seeing your wonderful layout, I might make mine with a straight setting, also. I'm also using red and green; it's interesting how even with that, our blocks look very different from each other.
I liked both versions. You are an artist!
it is such a beautiful quilt, I understand why you replaced the candy fabric... but it looked good too. I think you have a great combo in fabrics. I have never done a mystery because I am afraid to make a wrong fabric choice!!
You made all of the right decisions. Your quilt is fabulous!
Wow! Yours is very striking! I think it is also my favourite so far. I love the look of on point without having to do the extra work of placing it and constructing it on point. Nicely done!
Simply stunning! I am going to have to make another one now...actually probably a third one. I need one in fall colors too. Bonnie created such a beautiful pattern - I am completely smitten with your version!
Nothing beats red and green together in my book! The blocks look terrific apart and even better together. Congrats on a great twist on Bonnie's design.
Such a rich and warm Christmas quilt! Congrats!
I love how your quilt turned out but I can't quite figure out which pieces you used . Would you mind explaining a little more about the details? I am some where between step 3 and 4 but i haven't sewn things together just in case. I am toying with a touch of christmas, but my geese are browns, my 4patch a nuetral cream+ taupe. Thanks for sharing!
I think this is my favorite version. I love the colors and the straight setting is very pleasing to my eye. I hope to get started on mine soon. Thanks for sharing yours.
I love both versions but the one here is better. You're right in thinking the candy cane fabric did kind of look pink. (But I like pink.)
Glad you like it--the movie and the name! : )
It's gorgeous. I love the colors and the setting!
I looked at both of your versions. I think either would be wonderful. Sometimes you just have to go with what makes you happy. In this case that would be a tough decision, love them both.
I love your layout of Easy Street. I think I may be too far along on the A & B blocks the way Bonnie gave us to change midstream, but I do like on point settings better too. Your red and green colors look great.
I didn't see the other version of Easy Peasy, but I really like the one that you chose - it's really lovely.
I hope you send Bonnie a picture of your quilt variation. I think she would like to see it!
