Design Wall Monday - August 28, 2017

What a week!  So much happened, and none of it was quilty.  We moved my sister to Ludington, Michigan, from Flint, Michigan, on Tuesday.......to an independent living apartment .........My fairly new car - (just got it all paid for recently) - was in a fluke accident while I was out of town.....Maybe my hubby was driving it, but I'm not saying for sure.   I wouldn't want to embarrass him.  Then our daughter and her family had to evacuate their home in Texas (Corpus Christi) because of Hurricane Harvey.  They are home as of last night, but have no power yet.  The good news is that they missed the worst of the hurricane winds and rain.....so far their home is not flooded.  Wow, what a week!

So you will understand if this is a brief post because I did not do much quilting.

Here is a picture of part of the 365 quilt block project from 2016, that Dee put up on my design wall for me while she was here last week.  There are so many different blocks, that there is no right or wrong way to arrange them.   The next step will be sewing all the blocks together.

There is another round of darks and another round of lights - it's a big quilt!  I may take apart the center medallian to use darker pieces in the outside triangles.....or I may leave it up on the design wall until it grows on me the way it is.  I also may eliminate the four outside corner big blocks, as I haven't made them yet, and I think I have extras of the smaller blocks to use instead.

Here is the original layout:

In contrast to all the excitement this week, I enjoyed a nice boat ride with my granddog, Charlie on Monday.  We both love to sit in the front of the boat, with the wind in our faces.  We turned toward the camera for this picture, but usually we are facing into the wind with abandon!

What's on your design wall this Monday?  I hope you will join in the parade of pictures of everyone's projects.  I love to see what you are working on.

Design Wall Monday - August 21, 2017

I did get some quality quilt viewing time in last week, as I spent part of the week in Grand Rapids with my best friend Dee, and we attended the AQS Quilt Show on Thursday.

Here are pictures of two quilts, of the many, that I liked from the show:

Isn't this beautiful?  It is a whole different kind of quilting than I could ever do, so I just sit back and admire it.  Following is a close-up of part of the flower:

Here is the info tag on this quilt:

My hat's off to Andrea Brokenshire!  Such wonderful work......but no ribbon!  I appreciated it and hope you all do too.   I wonder why it didn't get a ribbon.

Another quilt that I liked because I love thirties and anything plaid:

Each basket was plaid, and I thought the outside border was a great selection to tie it all together.  The quilting was great too.....a lovely quilt, but again, no ribbon.   Here is a picture of the whole quilt:

I'll close with a picture of my friend Dee who was visiting me.  She doesn't like to have her picture taken, but isn't she cute?

We were at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, and if you are ever in Grand Rapids, it is a beautiful place to visit.

What's on your design wall this Monday?  My design wall is non-existent up here at the cabin, but today I am working on making a label for a baby quilt.  I hope to see what you are working on in today's link-up.

Design Wall Monday - August 14, 2017

This week has gone super fast.  And I didn't get much quilting done.  But I did finish the top of the "bazillion hst's doll quilt", as someone named it.

Here is the top:

I've picked blueberries several times lately, and learned something new this year, that they keep best unrefrigerated, in an open container on the countertop.  I also found it is very handy for popping a few in my mouth every time I go past the counter. Yummy.

Here's a picture of my latest picking:

I hope you have some lovely pictures to show the rest of us. I love Design Wall Mondays.  Let's see what you've been working on.

Design Wall Monday - August 7, 2017

August has started with such great weather that I haven't been sewing very much.  I have been outside enjoying the weather.  I even went golfing with my hubby, and enjoyed the beautiful golf course.

Yesterday I got out this doll quilt project that is partially finished and sewed some more on it.  Here is my progress so far:

I have another four rows ready to sew together.  I'm at the cabin, so my design wall today is the kitchen table.  Whatever works, right?

What's on your Design Wall this Monday?
