Design Wall Monday - April 17, 2023

Good Morning Quilters!

I turned 80 years old yesterday.  Wow!  It sure doesn't seem like I'm that old. (I tell myself I'm 40 years old X2).   Family and friends have blessed me so much, with many meals out, and lots of flowers.  In fact, I think today will be a parade of all the bouquets in our house right now.

Hubby bought me white tulips, and I added the last two blooms of the fading Easter lilies to this arrangement, which is on the kitchen counter:

Our son sent me a large bouquet that was so tightly packed with flowers.  So many flowers crowded together that the stems were not able to get any water to survive, so I split it into three different vases.  Here is the first of the three, a tulip bouquet which is now by my bedside.  So pretty!

Second of the tightly packed flowers, is the separate bouquet of orange roses.  I've never seen roses this color, and they are so beautiful.

The third vase has everything else from my son's gift,  that wasn't an orange rose or a variegated red tulip:

This bouquet is in the living room on the coffee table.

And lastly, my good friend Claire gave me some Gerber daisies.  I have some very small vases, so I cut the stems quite short, and there is one flower in each vase. They will be marching down the middle of the dining room table.  They are on a white tray here, until I am sure the bottom of each vase is dry before placing them on the table.  So pretty.

Oh!  I almost forgot, I am now the owner of this adorable little African violet, thanks to my sweet neighbor, Karen, who has the same birthday as I do.  We are twins just on the April 16 part, her year is much later than mine.    She was born when I was in high school.  My little violet is now in my kitchen window.

Well, I didn't get any quilting done last week, but I sure had fun.  This week my daughter flies in on Wednesday morning and we will be spending five days at a quilt retreat in Shipshewana, Indiana.  Another birthday present will be spending a week with my daughter.  God is so good.

What have you been doing this past week?  I hope you have had some sunshine and warm weather, as we have had here in Grand Rapids.  It was lovely all week, and the screens are now on the windows, and the windows were open so I could hear the birds outside.  Lovely!

Please join the Design Wall Monday Linky Party below and show us what you have been working on.  And please forgive me for not having anything quilty to show you.  I will have something next week, I am sure!

Click on the link below and join in the fun!  Thank you to all of you faithful bloggers who link up each week.  I appreciate  you.

Happy Birthday Judy! You certainly did receive some beautiful flowers! I look forward to meeting your daughter at retreat.

Yes, the weather was just beautiful last week and I was working in the flowerbed. This morning when I looked out the window, there is snow on the ground! Oh well, April is a fickle month. Happy stitching!

Wishing you a very happy birthday, Judy! If 80 means being spoiled rotten with flowers and good wishes, I am looking forward to growing old. Have a glorious birthday week and month!

Oh my -- I didn't count individual blooms in your photos but it looks like you received 80 flowers for your 80th birthday, or near to it! What a wonderful milestone, and I'm glad to hear you've been feted and showered with love by friends and family. Have a wonderful time quilting at the retreat with your daughter! I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of that creative time away!

Belated wishes for a happy shared birthday yesterday and a great year ahead. I love your way of counting! I'm celebrating the 40th anniversary of my 28th b-day, although I certainly wouldn't want to be 28 today. Your flowers are lovely and it's amazing that you were able to get so many pretty bouquets from them.

Happy birthday! Maybe it wasn't intentional, but your son did well giving you enough flowers for several bouquets. So pretty! Have fun on your retreat.

A belated Happy Birthday, Judy. How smart you were to divide up the bouquet, so that you could multiply the floral splendor and spread it throughout the house. I turned 75 in March and still can't believe I'm that old. Hope you are enjoying the retreat with your daughter and getting a lot done.

Happy birthday, let all the happiness continue! I was stunned the first time I got the orange roses; they dried almost as beautiful. Retreat in Shipshewana? The only thing that could make it better is to have your daughter there with you! May God continue to bless you. I hope to go back to Shipshewana for a retreat again one day. Have a wonderful year.
