After moving the boxes of stash to Michigan, I am focusing on using some fabric up in 2016. Luckily for me, there have been several free quilt patterns on the web, and I am enjoying these three:
1) 365 Challenge.....http://www.365challenge.com.au/
Some friends are doing this one also, and there is either a 3 inch or a 6 inch block to piece every day. I love small blocks and I love pieced blocks, and I love the final version of this quilt, so I am enjoying this challenge. I post my progress on Instagram (JudyKHansen), if you go there. I am making these blocks in pink and brown repro fabrics, and usually do a week's blocks at a time rather than one each day.
For example, here is a picture of the seven blocks of the third week of 2016:
2) Splendid Sampler.........http://www.thesplendidsampler.com/
This quilt is all 6 inch blocks, and the blocks are designed by various people, so there are lots of different quilting techniques. I am using my floral fabrics for this one, and am substituting blocks when there is one that doesn't fit (IMHO) with the blocks already made. I don't know what kind of setting I will be using on this quilt, but there will be 100 blocks; 2 patterns are issued each week.
Here's the very first block I made for this sampler:
3) Westering Women..........http://civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/
Barbara Brackman's blog is very informative, plus this year she is offering a block each month in 12 inch size, and stories about the women who settled the west. I am using my stash of plaids for this one, and I like it very much.
After working on 3 inch blocks, it is fun to make a 12 inch block once a month.
Here is March's block:
Are you working on any free Internet blocks in 2016? These three projects have kept my mind busy and focused on fun as I wait for warmer weather.

No free internet projects but am working on BOM and scrappy blocks in-between finishing UFOs.
I too am making the Splendid Sampler. I am using Kaffe Fassett fabrics and am making alternates for some of the blocks. Thanks for sharing all your pretty blocks with Oh Scrap!
I am making the 365 Challenge. I liked the blue and brown version shown on the website so decided to go with those colors. I am really enjoying it. Like you, I am not making the blocks every day. I like your choice of pinks and browns.
Love all your blocks! Especially your plaid Sweet Gum Tree!
I have been doing the Westering Women blocks.... the Circa 2016 with Temecula Quilt Co, and the 2016 Free BOM with Craftsy. I have been organizing fabrics to catch up with the 1857 applique quilt with Sentimental Stitches. I hadn't heard of the 365 quilt. It's pretty amazing. Not sure I could work on that small of a scale?? I DO like it, tho... :-) (MaryC from Haslett, MI)
I am also doing the 365 Challenge. My colors for this are red, black & shirtings. Doing the Splendid Sampler in reproduction fabrics. Temecula Quilt Shop has afree Quilt going on in which we receive a block weekly. Cheri Payne also has a small quilt of 24 blocks & some applique that I'm working on. Kathleen Tracy has a block exchange going on which I signed up for. It's 4' baskets done in reproduction fabrics. Hmmmm--- I think that's it! I have way too much fabric that I need to use up. Donated my huge stash of Thimbleberries fabrics to a womans prison for their use. And why am I going to Paducah?!!!
My oh my are you busy!! I only started by collecting the Circe 2016 patterns because I told myself not to start another quilt without some finishes first! lol You know how long that lasted, right?
I did start on the Sweet Surrender quilt and loving it - all the applique and pieced sugar-loaf blocks are coming along.
Can't wait to see your quilts!!!
I'm doing the 365 Challenge, Splendid Sampler, Westering Women, and Circa 2016. Fun but not leaving me much time to do my other projects.
No free internet challenges, I have 3 Baltimores and a Jane Stickle quilt going among my many projects. That is plenty!
