This week I went to a small quilt show in a little town near our cabin. There were some interesting quilts, but also there were some old quilts wrapped around the bottom of the wood structures holding the quilts (so people wouldn't trip over the wood bases). Two of these old quilts were ones I would have liked to see hanging in the show - and they were used as a device to keep people from tripping! My taste in quilts is different than theirs!
Here are pictures of the two:
Pink hexies and thirties fabric - it is adorable!
Thirties stars and a lively sashing - I love it! I felt sorry for both of them that they were on the floor.
There was one old redwork quilt that interested me, and I enjoyed looking at the squares. Here's one I liked of a little girl and her doll:
We had a friend visit us yesterday, and he brought his 10 week old golden retriever, Summer, with him. Here is a picture of Penny (with green collar) and Summer:
They were sure cute together!
I hope you are getting more quilting done that I am, but my excuse this week is that the weather was just perfect, and also we hung the hammock up. I was outside more than inside, and thoroughly enjoyed being in the hammock, thinking about how beautiful the trees look from there - lying on my back, looking up at the sunshine through all the tall oak tree leaves. Penny liked the hammock too.
I welcome your comments, and am trying to respond in spite of Blogger's glitch. I am sure they will fix it soon, if they haven't already.
Please join in the show, and post a picture of what's on your Design Wall. All I ask is that you please refer back to this particular post somewhere within your blog. Thanks!

Sounds like you've got a great spot with great weather, you should definitely enjoy it.
A guild I used to belong to used quilt stands with bases that could be tripped over. I have long forgotten how the problem was solved but it certainly was not with vintage/antique quilts wrapped around the bases. Interesting choice.
disrespectful of the quilts - they should have just gotten some cloth or table cloth and used that instead.
A bit of summer heaven...looking at the sky through trees lying in a hammock. And I'm with you about using those lovely quilts like that. Anything else would have been a better choice, imo.
That is so disappointing, what would the maker of these quilts think? I was going to enter a quilt in my first ever quilt show. Then I found out they don't display them. Unless you call folded and draped as displayed. To me, what is the point?
Playing with a puppy and relaxing in a hammock sound like the perfect summer activities... enjoy!
Very sad to see those beautiful old quilts treated so badly.
Oh those are lovely - I would have had a hard time with them on the floor too!
Summer days are meant for enjoying, and laying on a hammock sounds relaxing. I wonder if these quilts on the floor were damaged already, so they figured you could enjoy them on the floor. I think I would probably trip on quilts on the floor spread out like that, but maybe that is why they put interesting quilts that would draw attention.
There is a fix for you e-mail problem. I had the same problem.
On you blog on the top right go to Designs.
Select Email on the drop down.
In the Comment Notification put your e-mail. If ir is already there delete it and completely go out of your blog.
Come back into your blog and put your email into the Comment Notification are again.
You should get an email for blogger in you email. Go into it and approve the contact.
That should fix it.
I noticed that the one quilt has stains. I wonder if the floor quilts had holey areas that prevented them from being hung but the group still wanted them to be seen? That's how I prefer to think of it anyway. It's the only thing I can think of that makes it somewhat acceptable to have them on the floor. I'm still not wild about it, though.
Andrea
I agree with you about the use of the vintage quilts. I am thankful they were thinking of the safety of the show viewers, but wish that had used a different solution.
