The UFO for January is on the Design Wall now. I am excited to get this one moving along. It’s a cheddar baskets quilt that I am still undecided about the border. I thought it was finished, but now I am thinking of adding hsts around the edge. I last posted about it (Here)
While I am pondering it, one idea came to me to combine two UFOs into one, and add embroidered baskets that were intended to be a quilt on their own to the white empty squares of this quilt. Downside would be: Since I only have one and one/half baskets embroidered, it would set this project back into the UFOs for quite some time.
PROGRESS REPORT on last week's projects:
1) Machine quilting on the quilt I was working on last week. The machine quilting is about 3/4 finished, so I’m on the home stretch. I am getting a teeny-tiny bit confident with the process. Progress and practice is a good thing.
The baby quilt binding job is completed, and I am storing this one away for a future great grandchild. This one is completed, except for a label to be added at the time it is gifted.
It was a kit I bought and I love the bright colors and old fashioned “Dick and Jane” look.
The long arm quilter did a great job with alphabet letters, balloons, and crayons, etc.
The needlepoint angel project is moving right along. I am looking at other tree topper angels to see how they are constructed. And deciding what I will use for the back and sides of the angel......fabric from my stash probably, but haven't looked yet. I didn't do any hand quilting, as the angel kept me busy with hand work.
What progress can you report this week? Thanks so much for linking up and showing us your beautiful projects. As usual, my only request is that you link back to this specific blog post somewhere within your blog post. Thanks!

I vote yes on adding the embroidered baskets. This quilt is spectacular as is, but getting two done in one is a fantastic idea!
Wow, you've been really busy in the sewing room! The baby quilt is really cute. Happy stitching this week.
I love the addition of the embroidered baskets--so lovely; and that Baby quilt is just so sweet--great quilting on it too...you have some lovely projects in the works...hugs, Julierose
When you showed the little pieced baskets on the design wall the first time, I thought what wonderful space to highlight hand quilting designs. I guess it just depends on how long you want to wait. The embroidered blocks are cute but for me, I'd go without them and put some quilting designs in the space. If you don't feel up to the hand quilting, Lolly's has Amish hand quilters for hire. The Carriage House/Elaine Jones also has Amish quilters available. But it's your quilt so do whatever you think you'd like best. Happy stitching!
The embroidered baskets will fill in those big squares nicely. A mixed-media composition! And I really like the Dick & Jane quilt.
I love those tiny baskets - I am trying to clear up scraps this week
I love the basket quilt and don't know that I would add anything to it. It looks so beautifully vintage. The angel, cant you purchase a 3d stabilizer? Seems my lqs was speaking to a customer about something she carries for projects like this. Thank you for the link up.
I like your tiny baskets quilt without the embroidered baskets. But it is your quilt. Do what makes YOU happy!
I hate to encourage you to put off a UFO further, but those embroidered baskets look great in the centers of your basket quilt. Your baby quilt is superb! I have some children's blocks that I have been undecided about, other than framing them. I love your design with the polka dot flying geese around them.
Love the idea of those embroidered baskets. It's too bad you only have two. Guess you have to decide how soon you want this out of the UFO bin!
Love the cheddar baskets! And - Wow! That's actually a lot of progress:-)
Great idea! I love the blocks together
Your cross stitch angel is just so pretty. Love it!
That hst decision is a huge one. I was planning on doing it for one of my projects but then realized how much more time and work that means. Your baskets are beautiful and the hst would look great...
Hi Judy, congratulations on practicing on your FMQ. It's going to pay off in the end. Your baby quilt is so cute! Good luck with your UFO. Putting those two projects could be really nice, as long as you don't mind waiting to get it done. Those baskets are so cute.
Divinas esa cestas ¡¡me encantan!!
Saludos
Spanish to English: Divine that baskets, I love them !!
regards
I agree, separate quilts, to me they look like two different eras. HST's in the border would be lovely!
